Major C. Derek Campbell

Major C. Derek Campbell was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the MarineCorps in May 1994 after graduating from the University of Maryland. Upon completion of The Basic School, Cryptologic Division Officers Course and the Basic Cryptologic Communications Officers Course, he reported to 2D Radio Battalion for duty as the S-4A at MCB Camp LeJeune, NC.

First Lieutenant Campbell then served as the Detachment Officer-in-Charge CAX Det-1 for CAX-3/4 1998 at Twenty-nine Palms, California. He then served as Company Executive Officer with Company A, 2D Radio Battalion. Concurrent with his tour with Company A, First Lieutenant Campbell also served as the Detachment Officer-in-Charge for the 2nd Radio Battalion Air Contingency Force (ACF).

After completion of his tour as Executive Officer, Major Campbell was assigned to the II MEF G-2 as the Chief Intelligence Analyst for the MAGTF All-source Fusion Cell.During this time he participated in Fuertes Defensas/Unified Endeavor-98 and executed intelligence planning for several contingency operations.

   


Upon receipt of orders, Major Campbell reported for duty as a student to the Navy-Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center for attendance in the MAGTF Intelligence Officers Course. Upon successful completion of the course he was awarded the MOS of MAGTF Intelligence Officer and reported for duty with 2D Intelligence Battalion. At 2D Intel Battalion he was assigned as the Collections Management Officer for all II MEF G-2 intelligence collection operations. In July of 2000, Captain Campbell was assigned to Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia.

Gregg A. Yetter was born in Kansas City, Missouri on Friday the 13th. Following graduation in 1984 from Cameron High School in Cameron, Missouri, he entered William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri where he attended for several years. He subsequently transferred to the University of Missouri at Kansas City where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. In May 1992 he reported to Officer Candidates School, Quantico, Virginia in the Officer Candidates Course, Marine Corps Officer Commissioning Program. Upon graduation on 14 August 1992, He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Marines and subsequently transferred to The Basic School, Camp Barrett, Virginia for duty with Company “A”, Basic Officer Course 1-93.

Following graduation from The Basic School, 2ndLt Yetter was ordered to the 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and further assigned as the Battalion Adjutant and Legal Officer for 2d Combat Engineer Battalion. From 1 November to 15 December 1993, 2ndLt Yetter attended the Adjutant Course 1-94, Personal Administration School, Marine Corps Service Support Schools, Camp Johnson, North Carolina. Returning to 2d Combat Engineer Battalion, 2ndLt Yetter was subsequently promoted to First Lieutenant on 14 August 1994. On 7 December 1994, he was transferred to assume the duties of Regimental Adjutant and Legal Officer, 6th Marines, 2d Marine Division. After a brief break in service following his voluntary release from active duty on 15 February 1996, 1stLt Yetter returned to active duty on 29 April 1996 and served as a Personnel Officer and later as Assistant Division Head, Drilling Reserve Division, Marine Corps Reserve Support Command, Kansas City, Missouri. During this tour, 1stLt Yetter was selected for Captain and was promoted on 1 November 1996. On 5 February 1997, Capt Yetter reported to Marine Aircraft Group 41, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Naval Air Station Fort Worth, Texas for duty as the Group Adjutant and Legal Officer.

 
   

During July 2001, he was transferred to Quantico, Virginia and assumed the duties as as Policy Specialist within the Reserve Affairs Policy Branch, Reserve Affairs Division, Manpower & Reserve Affairs Department, Headquarters U. S. Marine Corps. He was personally selected by the Director, Reserve Affairs to assume the duties as Branch Head, Reserve Affairs Administration where he served as an Aide de Camp and Administrative Assistant for two General Officers at the same time. His branch was also responsible for the personnel and administrative support all 14 Marine Corps Reserve General Officers. During his Headquarters Marine Corps tour, he was selected and promoted to the grade of Major on 1 June 2002. Maj Yetter voluntarily left active duty in Nov 03 to pursue a career in racing and serve as a co-owner and General Manager for a NASCAR merchandise company called SportCoins, Inc. In 2004, as a racer, Maj Yetter was profiled in a book entitled Above & Beyond: Former Marines Conquer the Civilian World by Rudy Socha and published by Turner Publishing. He also serves as an Advisor to the Board of Directors for the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX. He currently serves in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve as the Recruiting Support Officer working for the Recruiting Station Commanding Officer located in Raleigh, NC.

Gregg also is an owner/driver for a NASCAR Weekly Series team located in Charlotte, NC. He races a late model stock car at Concord Motorsport Park, Concord, NC and is a Rookie is the series in 2005.

Maj Yetter’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/2 gold stars in lieu of a third award, the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
